I ask for prayers for all those affected by this tragedy.  In response to this brutal example of human trafficking and loss of life, we must ask about the social conditions that would lead human beings to resort to such desperate means of emigration.  We should promote forms of international cooperation that will help build peace, justice, and stability in our neighboring countries, so that people will have enough hope to be willing to stay and contribute constructively in the upbuilding of their own native country.
