A special collection for the benefit of the Honduran dioceses of Le Ceiba and San Pedro Sula will be taken up at parishes in the Diocese of San Angelo July 16 and 17.

This year the partnership ( Hermanamiento) among the dioceses of Tyler, La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula, and San Angelo celebrates its 15th anniversary. The collection to assist our fellow Catholics in the Honduran dioceses and parishes goes back even further, when it began as a means of providing relief from Hurricane Mitch. The collection is used now by partner parishes and dioceses to promote evangelization, provide basic education and extend assistance to the disadvantaged of the community.

The collection is divided between the two Honduran dioceses. In situations in which parishes from the Diocese of San Angelo are partnered with parishes in Honduras, what is collected benefits the partner parish directly.
