After 53 years of service to the Diocese of San Angelo and to every bishop in its history, the much-loved Mary Sue Brewer, pictured above with San Angelo Bishop Michael J. Sis, left, and Bishop Emeritus Michael D. Pfeifer, retired on January 16, 2015. Bishop Joseph Fiorenza, the only remaining surviving former Bishop of San Angelo, was unable to attend a retirement party for Mary Sue, but sent his warm wishes. Mary Sue has long been known for her warmth and encouraging spirit, for calling everyone "Darlin'" and for being called "Mother" by many of the priests in the diocese. Look for a retrospective story on her career in the February West Texas Angelus, which will be emailed on February 9, 2015, and mailed February 10, 2015.
