We are guided by the knowledge that the "Church is missionary by her very nature, since it is from the mission of the Son and the mission of the Holy Spirit that she draws her origin, in accordance with the decree of God the Father" (Ad Gentes, no. 2). We promote and encourage mission awareness, support, activities, and the spiritual relationships that arise from these activities through the collaborative efforts of missioners. We support ongoing diocesan efforts in mission outreach and bolster our missionary partnership with the Dioceses of San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba in Honduras and the Diocese of Tyler in Texas. Our Diocesan Mission Council renders an advisory and consultative service on matters of mission within and outside the Diocese of San Angelo.
We help to organize activities in support of world missions. We seek out various areas of mission opportunities within our diocese and elsewhere. We work to assist individual parishes to have missionary partnership with other diocese and parishes around the world, realizing that the "mission of Christ the Redeemer, which is entrusted to the Church, is still very far from completion" (Redemptoris Missio, no. 1). Our Diocesan Mission Council members serve as major points of referral and contacts for our mission projects and outreach in the Diocese of San Angelo.
