Shared Parishes have various ethnic groups and language groups, generational divisions, newcomers and old-timers – there are many combinations. We have all been baptized as Catholics; we desire to be quilted together into a unified and productive parish!
We can learn from the best practices of others, not only various examples, but also processes to work toward unity. The USCCB recently published a book about this, called
Best Practices for Shared Parishes.
The Diocese of San Angelo will present a workshop on this topic, featuring Father Hector Madrigal of St. Joseph's Parish in Amarillo, one of the parishes highlighted in the book.
Priests, sisters, and deacons are encouraged to attend. Pastors are urged to bring one or two adult lay leaders from the parish and/or mission as well. The fee of only $20 per person includes the book and lunch.
This workshop will take place on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Holy Angels Parish Hall in San Angelo, located at 2309 A&M Avenue. We gather at 10:00 AM and conclude about 3:00 PM.
Registration forms have been sent to all priests, sisters, and deacons of the diocese. If you are a layperson interested in attending, please contact your pastor to discuss the possibility.
