After they have been initiated into the Eucharist, all the faithful must receive Holy Communion at least once a year.

This precept must be fulfilled in paschal time from the First Sunday of Lent to Trinity Sunday (Second Plenary Council of Baltimore, no.257), but for just cause it may be fulfilled at another time during the year (c. 920).
