Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders, Jan. 6, 2024
On Jan. 6, 2024, Bishop Michael J. Sis admitted men from around the diocese as candidates for holy orders, a major step as they discern a call to the vocation of deacon. The following men were admitted as candidates: Juan Gallegos of Holy Redeemer Parish in Odessa, Jimmy Hernandez of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Fort Stockton, Randy Hunt of St. Ann Parish in Midland, Jerry Jimenez of St. Ann Parish in Sonora, Steve Klein of St. Joseph Parish in Stanton, Javier Lopez-Morales of St. Stephen Parish in Midland, Mike McEligot of St. Margaret of Scotland Parish in San Angelo, Alvin Navarrete of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Midland, Barry Triche of Holy Family Parish in Abilene, Stephen Valdez of Sacred Heart Parish in Abilene, Phillip Ward of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Midland, and Cody Wilson of St. Thomas Mission in Midkiff. Not present was Ed Brandecker of Holy Family Parish in Abilene, who will be admitted to candidacy for holy orders at a later date.
