Here in the Diocese of San Angelo, we offer confidential “Rachel’s Vineyard” retreats to those women and men who have had an abortion experience. We are currently placing these retreats within a broader and overarching program called Project Rachel sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. This program not only includes retreats, but also resources for professional counseling, funeral services for miscarriages, training for priests, and a hidden yet vitally important prayer team that stands at the center of this spiritual work of healing.
If you feel called to pray for this ministry in a special way, know that we are inviting you!
As you can imagine, this ministry is largely confidential, so we will not be able to provide you with names, but we will keep you updated with the activities of Project Rachel and let you know when retreats are being held (neither the names of participants nor the location will be disclosed for purposes of confidentiality). As a member of the prayer team, we ask that you commit to the following:
1. A weekly Holy Hour offered for the ministry of Project Rachel (before the tabernacle/in adoration is preferred but not necessary)
a. Please pray for the Project Rachel Team.
b. Please pray for the priests associated with Project Rachel.
c. Please pray for the women and men undergoing healing through Project Rachel.
2. At least 2 Rosaries per week for the healing of all men and women in our area who have had an abortion experience
3. An added Holy Hour during the weekend of the retreat (we typically have three to four per year) offered for the retreatants.
4. Request Masses at your home parish to be offered for Project Rachel on an occasional basis.
All is done according to your personal schedule, but should some members of the team desire to pray together, you are more than welcome to organize that. If you are willing to join our team or have any questions, please send an email to projectrachel@
