The reports from each diocese were synthesized by region prior to the creation of the national synthesis. The Diocese of San Angelo is part of Region X.

A synod is a journey of the faithful to listen to what the Holy Spirit is saying to the Church and asking her to be and to do. This journey, which follows in the wake of the Church’s renewal proposed by the Second Vatican Council, is both a gift and a task; by journeying together and reflecting together on the journey that has been made, the Church will be able to learn through her experience which processes can help her to live communion, to achieve participation, and to open herself to mission.
In October 2021, Pope Francis opened the Synod on Synodality. This Synod is a two-year process of listening and dialoguing. The diocesan phase of the process concluded in June 2022 with the submittal to the USCCB of the summary of feedback we received in our listening sessions.
The summary of the feedback received is contained in a 6-page report that can be found here.
This report has been sent to the USCCB, and our feedback will be merged with the feedback of other dioceses in our region, then with all the regions in our country. Then a national summary report will be submitted to the Holy See.
The combined feedback will be utilized by the Vatican Synod on Synodality to be convened by Pope Francis next year.
It will be valuable for us locally to reflect upon this compiled feedback and consider how we can grow in the way we carry out our ministry as a diocese and in our parishes.
The report from the diocesan phase of the Synod on Synodality is now available.
